Brenda Lee Mills, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on September 29, 2026, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 77. Born on May 27, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, she lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.
Brenda devoted her professional life to teaching, sharing her passion for learning with countless students over the years. Beyond her career, she found immense joy in traveling, reading, and entertaining friends and family. Her nurturing spirit was evident in her care for those around her, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Together with her husband Lanny Mills, Brenda co-founded Mills Gymnastics USA, a testament to their shared commitment and passion. Lanny and Brenda's remarkable journey together began when they met in high school, and their love story spanned an incredible 60 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Louise Shelton, her brother Clifton Shelton, and sister Terry Lee Shelton, Brenda leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Robert L. Mills Jr.; her children, Carrie Mihalko and Chad (Lourdes) Mills; and her honorary children, Nena (Danny) Walker. Her grandchildren, Petra Mihalko, Makaela Mihalko, and Sophia Mihalko, along with honorary grandchildren, Devin Walker and Lexi (Ryan) Bishop, will forever cherish her memory. Brenda is also survived by her brother William Shelton and her nieces and nephews, Carina, Dennis, Vanessa, and Evan.
Brenda will be remembered for her unwavering love and commitment to her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her gentle spirit and kind heart touched all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be dearly missed.
